[It's easy to dwell on and overanalyze your every flaw when you are Allen Walker. Allen, who has had to come to terms with the fact that he's not even a real person in the sense that he was born on this earth and destined to have his own life to do whatever he wants with. He's always been part of someone- or something- else. He's never been given that choice. While Link's life had been similar in that he hadn't had much choice in the role he ended up playing, moreso because he feels like he owes his entire life to Central, he can't even begin to imagine the mental turmoil that Allen has to go through every day, just to rationalize his own existence.
But when given the time to think about it- really think- Link had come to that conclusion easily. Allen had caused a lot of trouble, there's no denying that. But, if he were to go back through the last few years of his life...Link can't honestly say his life would be any better without Allen in it. They'd still be fighting this war. His comrades would have still been in the situation they are now. If anything, he thinks things could have been a lot worse. Without Allen...
He doesn't really like thinking about it.
Yes, he almost died. Apocryphos came terribly close, but they'd all entered this war with the understanding that any one of them could die at any moment, and Link is confident saying that if he had died that day protecting Allen, it would have been worth it. Yes, he's still under Central's thumb by way of Lvellie. Yes, he's been given the task to ally with and guard the Fourteenth.
But here? Here...he can focus less on their duties, less on the fate of the fucking universe for once, and more on what he wants. How he feels.]
...I love you, too.
[He says it easily and without hesitation, though he does worry he's said something wrong. He's covering his face, so he can't tell from his expression...so instead, he'll remove one hand from his hip to brush his bangs away just a little.]

I'm sorry.
